<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 29, 2006 <br />TITLE <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING THE <br />RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 7, 2006 <br />GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2M Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />Q~ <br /> <br />CI Y MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />Adopt a resolution declaring the results of the General Municipal Election held <br />in the City on November 7, 2006. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />On November 29, 2006, the Orange County Registrar of Voters certified the results <br />of the canvass of the Santa Ana General Election returns. Pursuant to State <br />Elections Code 10263 and 10264, the City Council must adopt a resolution reciting <br />the fact of the election and the results of: (a) the whole number of votes cast <br />in the city, (b) the names of the candidates voted for, and the offices voted <br />for, (c) the measures voted upon, (d) the number of votes by precinct for each <br />candidate and for or against each measure, and Ie) the number of votes in the <br />City for each candidate and for or against each ballot measure. The accompanying <br />resolution and Exhibit A identify the results of the balloting. By adopting the <br />resolution, the City Council declares elected the following individuals: Miguel <br />A. Pulido, Mayor; Michele Martinez, Councilmember, Ward 2; David Benavides, <br />Councilmember, Ward 4; and, Sal Tinajero, Councilmember, Ward 6. <br /> <br />Additionally, Measures Z, AA, BB, CC, and DD which proposed various amendments to <br />the City Charter all received a majority vote. Pursuant to the provisions of <br />California Government Code Section 34459, these measures shall take effect after <br />they are accepted and filed by the Secretary of State. The Clerk of the Council <br />will file the necessary documents with the Secretary of State following the <br />Council's action on the resolution declaring the results of the election. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />There is no fiscal impact)tssociated with this action <br /> <br />....'
