REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />DECEMBER 4, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT AWARD FOR STEAM CLEANING <br />F- <br />~~ ~ ~ ~~/ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1 g` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with TSCM Corporation <br />for steam cleaning services for a two-year period with provision for two <br />one-year renewals, in the annual amount not to exceed $170,500. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Steam cleaning services are required at various locations throughout the <br />City, including Downtown, South Main and The Depot at Santa Ana. The <br />steam-cleaning program in Downtown allows for three linear blocks to be <br />cleaned each night, five nights a week, Wednesday through Sunday. The <br />program on South Main allows for quarterly cleanings of the sidewalks on <br />Main from First to Warner. The steam-cleaning program at The Depot <br />allows for monthly cleaning of the bus bays, boarding areas, and the main <br />entrances; quarterly cleaning of the stairways, ped-bridge and platforms; <br />and semi-annual cleaning of the parking garage, flag area and concrete <br />drive area in front of building. <br />A Request for Proposals was advertised on October 9 and 11, 2006, and <br />proposals were solicited. A summary of the proposals requested and <br />received is as follows: <br />17 Request for Proposals mailed <br />2 Request for Proposal mailed to Santa Ana vendor <br />3 Proposals received <br />0 Proposal received from a Santa Ana vendor <br />On November 13, 2006, three proposals were received. Each of the <br />proposals was evaluated in four areas covering experience providing <br />requested services, clarity and detail of submitted proposal, pricing and <br />work plan.
