CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan reported excessive water runoff near 1st Street at Harbor and <br />requested staffcheck the sprinkler system; and congratulated Joe Vielma and Winston <br />Covington, incoming Communication Linkages Chair and Co-Chair respectively, on their new <br />offices and wished them well. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lutz: <br /> <br />· expressed appreciation on behalf of Joel Silverman to thc Planning and Building Agency <br /> staff for outstanding efforts regarding both the Brock Homes project and the conversion <br /> of carports to garages at the Hana Kiki Apartments; <br />· noted a number of upcoming community events including the Floral Park concert and <br /> Santora Arts anniversary on July 11 and the Wilshire Square conccrt on July 15; and <br />· reported his and Mayor Pulido's participation in a successful "Old Fashioned Fourth of <br /> July" celebration at the Discovery Museum of Orange County. <br /> <br />Councilmember Franklin: <br /> <br />· reported phone calls regarding illegal July 4~h fireworks and suggested additional <br /> publicity might help to discouragc their use; <br />· requested Recreation and Community Services Executive Director Cleve Williams <br /> provide thc Council with an update regarding City pools and possible expansion of <br /> operating hours; <br />· indicated noise ordinance violations could be reported anonymously and encouraged the <br /> audience to forward complaints rcgarding loud parties to the Police Department; and <br />· noted the Downtown Santa Ana Business Association had requested sidewalk vendor <br /> operations be removed from the Downtown. <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido: <br /> <br />· thanked his wife for volunteering to chair the Discovery Museum July 4~' event; <br />· commented on the success of the recent "Plein Air" art contest and show sponsored by <br /> Genc and Ann Andres; and <br />· requested the Council meeting be adjourned in honor of two City employees, Senior <br /> Accounting Assistant Anh Kim Dong killed in an auto accident and Police Sergeant John <br /> Aguilar who died of leukemia recently. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION- 9:10 P.M.-10:05 P.M. <br /> <br />95.A.
