<br />PJC:12/06/06 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND, <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF ANAHEIM FOR <br />REIMBURSEMENT OF FUNDS AUTHORIZED UNDER <br />THE FY 2006 URBAN AREAS SECURITY INITIATIVE <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The United States Department of Homeland Security has developed the <br />Urban Areas Security Initiative funding program (UASI). UASI provides <br />funds to local emergency first responders to enhance security and <br />preparedness to prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism <br />by providing funding for equipment, planning, training, exercises and <br />technical assistance. <br /> <br />B. In FY 2006 the United States Department of Homeland Security combined <br />the Anaheim UASI with the Santa Ana UASI into a single Urban Area with <br />the City of Santa Ana as the designated Urban Area Core City and <br />provided for shared administrative responsibilities with the City of <br />Anaheim. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and directs <br />the City Manager and the Chief of Police or his designee(s) to enter into an agreement <br />with the City of Anaheim for reimbursement of funds expended for the purchase of <br />equipment, services, and training authorized under the FY 2006 UASI in an amount not <br />to exceed $5,990,000. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and directs <br />the City Attorney's Office to prepare and authorize the Chief of Police and the Clerk of <br />the Council to enter into reimbursement agreements for equipment, services, or training <br />with the County of Orange or any of the cities located in the designated Anaheim/Santa <br />Ana Urban Area. <br /> <br />Section 4. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby approves an <br />Appropriation Adjustment recognizing the FY 2006 Urban Areas Security Initiative in the <br />amount of $5,990,000 and appropriate same in the FY 2006 Urban Areas Security <br />Initiative Program Grant expenditure accounts. <br /> <br />20A-3 <br /> <br />
