REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />DECEMBER 18, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT WITH TERRI OKAZAKI <br />FOR ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES <br />"~~ -~~_ <br />CITY MA AGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1St Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to enter into an agreement with Terri Okazaki to <br />provide administrative services in an amount not to exceed $30,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On September 19, 2005, the City Council accepted an $8 million Urban Area <br />Security Initiative (UASI) grant from the federal Department of Homeland <br />Security, through the State of California, Office of Homeland Security. <br />This initiative was designed to enhance the domestic preparedness of urban <br />areas by ensuring that all emergency-first responders have adequate <br />equipment, training and systems to prevent, respond to, and recover from <br />acts of terrorism. <br />The Santa Ana Police Department administers the UASI grant and in this <br />capacity often assumes the lead role in acquiring equipment and services. <br />In an effort to facilitate the purchase of UASI grant supported equipment <br />and services, Terri Okazaki was contracted to provide administrative <br />services in support of procurement. Staff recommends entering into a new <br />agreement as Terri Okazaki has performed satisfactorily and the Police <br />Department continues to be in need of her services. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds are available in the FY 2005 UASI Grant Other Contractual Services <br />account {account no. 125-333-6291-33112). <br />`\ <br />F I a <br />Paul M.
