COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Lutz: <br /> <br />· expressed his personal condolences to the Bril Family; <br />· invited everyone to the Washington Square and West Floral Park Neighborhood <br /> Associations' Pancake Breakfast on September 13 from 7:00-11:00 a.m. at <br /> Hankey's Restaurant, 1120 W. 17th St.; <br />· announced the Washington Square Neighborhood Association will host a free <br /> live concert on September 27 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the comer of Olive and <br /> 10t~' Streets; <br />· reported the 1998 Art Walk will be held on September 19 from 11:00 a.m. to <br /> 5:00 p.m., and will start at the Bowers Museum; and <br />· commented that the Graffiti Removal Team was so efficient that the Team had <br /> painted out graffiti purposely painted on the former Chandler's Building for a <br /> video production before the video crew arrived to tape the video. <br /> <br />Councilmember Franklin: <br /> <br />· reported non-working lights at Fisher Park; <br />· announced that the groundbreaking for the Lydia Romero-Cmz Elementary <br /> School at 1512 W. Santa Ana Boulevard would be held on September 24; <br />· commented that new playground equipment would be unveiled at Santiago Park <br /> on September 20; <br />· thanked Jack Gestner for his letter congratulating the new Green Parrot Caf6 at <br /> Pahn Court; and <br />· invited everyone to participate in the September 12-13 Fiestas Patrias <br /> celebrations in Downtown Santa Ana and at Centennial Park. <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido: <br /> <br />· observed that he had successfully advocated for $4 million in Orange County <br /> Transportation Authority funds for Santa Ana street improvements and reported <br /> the first repair priorities as Grand, Fairview, First, Harbor, and Edinger Streets; <br />· announced the groundbreaking for the Bristol Street Widening project would <br /> occur on September 26 at the intersection of Bristol and Edinger; <br />· commented on the numerous developments underway in the City such as the St. <br /> Joseph Ballet construction project, Federal Courthouse, Discovery Science <br /> Center, and Grand Central Art project with Cai State Fullerton; <br />· commended the Hispanic Educational Endowment Foundation on its apcoming <br /> awards event on September 25; and <br />· mentioned the State Legislature had endorsed the "Idea Institute," a multi-media <br /> center proposed by the City, Santa Ana College, and the University of <br /> California at Irvine; and <br />· announced Chapman University was considering the old First American <br /> Building as a possible site for its School of Film. <br /> <br />Councilmember Espinoza left the meeting at 10:15 p.m. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />261 September 8, 1998 <br /> <br /> <br />
