COMMENTS <br /> <br />90.A. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Alfredo Zarate congratulated Mayor Pulido and Councilmember McGuigan on their re-election <br />to office, and thanked Mayor Pro Tem Richardson for his many contributions during his eight <br />years of service on the City Council. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno expressed personal thanks to his campaign supporters for the Office of <br />Mayor. (Note: The campaign was not successful.) <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Richardson: <br />· requested the Council meeting be adjourned in honor of Betty Griset, a long-time Santa Ana <br /> resident, who recently passed away and condolences sent to her husband Francis; <br />· reported that the annual Boys and Girls Club's "Castle of Dreams" fund raiser was scheduled <br /> for November 14 and encouraged everyone to attend; <br />· suggested that civic and non-profit organizations interested in advertising their activities on <br /> Comcast Channel 3 contact Rosa Hurtado at 571-4203 for information; and <br />· noted a large number of street improvements had been completed. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan presented the Aztec Award from the Mexican American Opportunity <br />Foundation she had received on the City's behalfto Mayor Pulido. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lutz: <br />· commended the French Park Neighborhood Association on its recent successful Jazz <br /> Festival; <br />· wished everyone a "Happy Thanksgiving"; and <br />· extended congratulations to Mayor Pulido and Councilmember McGuigan on their re- <br /> election and Councilmembers-elect Bist and Christy on their elections to City Council office. <br /> <br />Councilmember Franklin: <br />· thanked Reuben Martinez for his efforts in having the City designated a "Reading City"; <br />· welcomed the Governor of Zacatecas, Mexico, to the City on his mission to increase trade for <br /> his state; <br />· encouraged residents to visit the City's "treasures" such as the Howe-Waffie House and <br /> Discovery Science Center; <br />· added his congratulations to those successful in their election to City office; <br />· thanked Mayor Pro Tern Richardson for his eight years of service on the Council; and <br />· wished everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving. <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido: <br />· announced that as a Boardmember of the Orange County Transportation Authority, he <br /> planned to work toward a goal of reducing City matching funds for local street grants; and <br />· thanked Councilmember Espinoza for his four years of service on the Council, and Mayor <br /> Pro Tern Richardson for his eight years of service on the Council and his additional service to <br /> the community as a member of the Santa Ana Unified School District Board. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 329 November 16, 1998 <br /> <br /> <br />
