NO. 06-192) <br />CI Y MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1 s' Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Ebsco Subscription Services for library magazine <br />subscription services for a three-year period in an amount not to exceed <br />$45,000 annually. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Library provides over 800 annual periodical subscriptions in <br />the Young Adult, Adult, and Juvenile categories. The most economic way of <br />handling a high number of subscriptions with varying expiration dates as <br />well as specific requests for additional periodicals is to utilize a <br />brokerage to order, track and expedite delivery. Ebsco Subscription <br />Services is a sole source subscription service that carries over 4,000 <br />Spanish language titles and information reports such as Bulletin of <br />Serials Changes and Historical Price Analysis Report. <br />On January 5, 2004, the City Council awarded a contract to Ebsco <br />Subscription Services.
