<br />Adopt- Resolution <br /> <br />A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, to establish a commission on <br />gang prevention and Intervention, which shall be cited as the City of Santa Ana <br />commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention. <br /> <br />It is the purpose and intent of the City Council to establish a commISSIOn on gang <br />prevention and Intervention, which shall be cited as the City of Santa Ana commission on <br />Gang Prevention and Intervention. The commission will serve as an official advisory <br />body to the Mayor and City Council on policy issues relation to gang prevention and <br />intervention. The Commission's vision is to develop a more strategic, coordinated, and <br />collaborative effort between the City, law enforcement agencies, social services, and the <br />general public with the objective of significantly reducing gang involvement, and it's <br />negative impact, in the City of Santa Ana. The commission shall make recommendations <br />concerning gang prevention, intervention, suppression methods, and diversion; identify <br />local, state and federal funding sources, and address other gang-related policy matters. <br /> <br />There is herby created a Commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention to consist of <br />18 members, who shall serve with ($50) per meeting, twenty-four (24) meetings <br />maximum, annually. The members shall be appointed by the Mayor and City Council. <br /> <br />In making appointments The Mayor and City Council shall appoint 7 members one rrom <br />each ward. Additionally The Mayor and City Council will appoint two- at large <br />members, one Representative of faith base organizations, and one reformed gang <br />member. Representatives of the School Districts are appointed by the respective school <br />boards representatives of the Business Community are appointed by the Chamber of <br />Commerce of Santa Ana and Hispanic Chamber of Orange County, Representatives of <br />Law enforcement are appointed by Probation Chief and Chief of Police Representative of <br />Social Service will be appointed by Social Services Department. Members shall serve 4 <br />year terms, and each member shall serve until a successor is duly appointed and <br />confirmed. No member shall serve more then two consecutive terms. <br /> <br />85A-3 <br />
