COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno: <br />· Wished everyone a Happy New Year; <br />· Requested a report detailing the locations throughout the City that do not have <br /> sidewalks, along with information about how many miles of sidewalk are lacking <br /> citywide; <br />· Noted that Cabrillo Park Drive is in need of a lot of repair; and <br />· Reported to the viewing public that two topics at recent Work Study Sessions <br /> were the live/work residential project near First Street and Main Street and the <br /> proposed Light Rail system. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bist: <br />· Asked the City Manager to look into the process for paying for parking at the <br /> Third and Broadway Parking Structure because motorists receive a ticket for the <br /> maximum charge in the mail if they exit when there is no attendant on duty; <br />· Noted that the City of Seattle, Washington uses traffic circles in some residential <br /> areas to achieve traffic calming, and suggested that the Public Works Agency <br /> staff seek innovative ways to decrease high speeds in our neighborhoods; and <br />· Wished everyone a Happy New Year and said that the City will have a very <br /> exciting year because of all of the special events planned for 1999. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lutz: <br />· Displayed the December 1998 issue of Orange Coast magazine which features <br /> "Art for the City's Sake", a story about Santa Ana's arts movement; <br />· Congratulated "Cityline" newspaper editors for another excellent issue; and <br />· Wished everyone a very Happy New Year. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuiqan: <br />· Wished everyone a Happy New Year; <br />· Mentioned that she has a number of articles on traffic calming which she would <br /> be happy to share with Councilmember Bist and City staff; and <br />· Displayed the January 3, 1999 issue of "Parade Magazine," a national news <br /> magazine, that featured on its cover a portrait of a Southern California family <br /> including an adult daughter proudly wearing the uniform of a Santa Aha Police <br /> Detention Officer. <br /> <br />Councilmember Christy: <br />· Thanked staff from the Recreation and Community Services Agency, Police <br /> Department and Fire Department as well as various neighborhood associations <br /> and the Downtown Santa Aha Business Association for their efforts resulting in <br /> a Christmas party for hundreds of children; <br />· Thanked the Public Works Agency and Code Enforcement staffs for quick <br /> action on several City Council Requests; <br />· Presented the Mayor and the Mayor Pro Tem with pins from the 10th anniversary <br /> commemoration of the incorporation of the City of Dana Point which she <br /> attended on behalf of the City; <br />· Wished everyone a Happy New Year; and <br />· Expressed excitement about the opening of the Federal Courthouse. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 19 JANUARY 4, 1999 <br /> <br /> <br />
