REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JANUARY 16, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />CONTRACT AWARD FOR STREET SWEEPING <br />SERVICES AT THE DEPOT AT SANTA ANA <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 161 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on Intl Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with TSCM for street <br />sweeping services at The Depot at Santa Ana for a twelve-month period <br />with two 12-month renewals in an annual amount of $10,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Depot at Santa Ana is a regional transportation hub, combining <br />Amtrak, MetroLink, Orange County Transit Authority and other bus services <br />with office space for various State, County and City departments. <br />Patronage at the facility has escalated in recent years to over a million <br />persons annually. Therefore, consistent, street-sweeping service must be <br />maintained at all times in order to keep the exterior of the facility and <br />the parking structure clean and attractive. <br />A Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued to provide street sweeping <br />services; the RFP was also published on November 6 and 8, 2006, in the <br />Orange County Reporter. The summary of the Request for Proposals is as <br />follows: <br />5 Invitations for Proposals Requested <br />2 Proposals Received <br />Each respondent's equipment submittal and price quotations was rated <br />using the following criteria: qualifications, history of firm, <br />reputation of firm, history of like services, clarity and detail of <br />submitted proposal and pricing.
