REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JANUARY 16, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT AWARD FOR LANDSCAPING <br />SERVICES <br />^~ ' ~ ) ~~ <br />lA ' <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2ntl Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Specialty <br />Environments Co., Inc. for landscaping services for a two-year period <br />with provision for two one-year renewals, in the annual amount not to <br />exceed $26,300. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Landscape services are required at various public parking lots and right <br />of way locations throughout the City, including Downtown, South Main and <br />North Main. The landscaping program in Downtown allows for Fourth <br />Street from Ross to French and the Artists Walk to be cleaned and <br />maintained twice a week. The program in the public parking lots on <br />South Main and North Main allows for once a week cleaning and <br />maintenance. <br />A Request for Proposals was advertised on November 8 and 10, 2006, and <br />proposals were solicited. A summary of the proposals requested and <br />received is as follows: <br />25 Requests for Proposals mailed <br />8 Request for Proposals mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br />5 Proposals received <br />3 Proposals received from Santa Ana vendors <br />On December 1, 2006, five proposals were received. Each of the <br />proposals was evaluated in four areas covering experience providing <br />requested services, clarity and detail of submitted proposal, pricing <br />and work plan. The maximum obtainable score is 400. The ratings for <br />the four respondents are as follows: <br />25B-1 <br />
