REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JANUARY 16, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />SECURITY MAINTENANCE SERVICES <br />l k ~ ~""- <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1~` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute a three-year agreement with two, one-year <br />renewal options with MASK Systems, Inc. to provide routine and emergency <br />maintenance services for the jail security systems in an annual amount not <br />to exceed $338,300. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The existing agreement for the jail security system maintenance expires in <br />February 2007. As a result, staff prepared and distributed a Request for <br />Proposal (RFP) seeking the most qualified and cost effective service <br />program. RFPs were sent to three vendors. Of the three vendors who <br />requested the RFP's only MASK System, Inc. responded to the proposal. <br />The Police Department staff recommends the approval of this agreement with <br />MASK Systems, Inc. MASK is the current vendor and has performed <br />satisfactorily. The services identified under this agreement are scheduled <br />preventive maintenance of all security systems, emergency and routine <br />repairs of equipment, and an on-site system technician. Additionally, the <br />agreement includes a $150,000 annual budget for spare parts, system <br />enhancements, and system modifications. <br />25J-1 <br />
