NO. 07-011) <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Altec Industries, Inc., under the Cooperative Purchase <br />Provision of the City of Los Angeles, for the purchase of one lift truck <br />with aerial device in the amount not to exceed $90,234.56. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division's annual Equipment Replacement Program is <br />included in the City's annual budget and identifies vehicles scheduled for <br />replacement. Funding is monitored through a depreciation schedule <br />established with each department. Additionally, the Fleet Division reviews <br />the acquisition in accordance with the City's Hybrid and Alternative Fuel <br />Vehicle Acquisition Policy. Currently, hybrid vehicles are not available in <br />the heavy-duty truck line. <br /> <br />The General Maintenance Section of the Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Agency maintains 39 park facilities, the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice <br />Park and the Civic Center. The department utilizes a manlift truck to <br />perform tree trimming, lighting replacement, and general maintenance <br />including required painting. Due to age, worn condition and engine hours, <br />a 1991 Ford manlift truck has been approved for replacement in the current <br />fiscal year. <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to purchase <br />against contracts from any public agency utilizing a competitive bid <br />process. The City of Los Angeles contract with Altec Industries, Inc. for <br />an Altec AT37G aerial device on a Ford F550 truck was awarded as a result <br />of open, competitive bidding, and meets the City's requirements. <br /> <br />220-1 <br />
