NO. 06-182) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2" Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />(l4!a <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award contracts for police motorcycle parts and repair for a two-year <br />period, with provision for two, one-year renewals in the annual aggregate <br />amount not to exceed $200,000 with the following vendors: <br /> <br />Bill Robertson and Sons d/b/a Honda of Hollywood <br />Brown Motor Works, Inc. <br />Long Beach BMW Motorcycles <br />Seavco d/b/a Irv Seaver Motorcycles <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division of the Finance and Management Services <br />Agency is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Police <br />Department's 32 motorcycles. Service can range from normal preventive <br />maintenance of brakes, tires and steering components, to repairs due to <br />accident damage. The motorcycles must be maintained in the highest quality <br />condition to meet federal, state and local codes. The contracts require <br />that maintenance must be provided by factory trained, certified <br />technicians, for liability purposes. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on December 29, 2006 and January 3, <br />2007, and bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids <br />received is as follows: <br /> <br />9 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />1 Invitation for Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendor <br />4 Bids received <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on January 10, 2006, and evaluated (Exhibit 1). <br />The bids from all vendors are responsive to the specifications and meet the <br />Ci ty' s requirements. Police Department recommends awarding contracts to <br />four vendors to facilitate convenient scheduling of maintenance and repair <br />service. Current policy allows officers to take their motorcycles home as <br />well as dropping off their motorSlcles for service at the end of their work <br />shift. . ~2E-1 <br />
