PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Douglas Westfall presented Councilmembers with copies of a brochure entitled <br /> "History of Santa Ana City and Valley" originally published in 1887. <br /> <br />90.B. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Bist <br />· congratulated Wilshire Square resident Mare LaFont on his attractive garden <br /> that had been featured in a recent Los Angeles Times article; <br />· commended the Friends of the Zoo on its successful "Zoofari" fund raiser and <br /> expressed her gratitude to the Friends for their support of the Santa Ana Zoo; <br />· reported her attendance at the unveiling ceremony of Art Panels, a <br /> beautification project for Orange County freeways funded by the Federal <br /> government; and <br />· encouraged the audience to attend the Fiestas Patrias celebration in downtown <br /> Santa Ana on September 10-12, particularly the Saturday parade. <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno <br />· noting his daughter had attended her first day of school that morning, requested <br /> staff to provide him with a report on the number of crossing guards at Santa <br /> Ana schools; <br />· cited several examples of ways he had assisted constituents solve municipally- <br /> related problems and encouraged the audience to call him at 836-0334; and <br />· requested the Orange County Vector Control District presentation heard by the <br /> Council on July 19 be given at a televised Council meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro-Tem Lutz <br />· thanked the Santa Ana Kiwanis Club, the Assistance League, Anaheim Sports <br /> and all who attended the dedication of Angels Community Park on August 21 <br /> for their support; <br />· invited residents to attend the Washington Square Home Tour on October 2-3 <br /> and indicated information could be obtained by calling 284-5434; and <br />· also invited the audience to the 2® annual Jazz & Blues Festival at the Zoo on <br /> September 25-26 (Recreation and Community Services Executive Director <br /> Cleve Williams detailed the artists and performance schedule, noting ticket <br /> information was available by calling 571-4272.) <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />299 <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 7, 1999 <br /> <br /> <br />
