Authorize the City of Santa Ana's membership with the Orange County <br />Division of the League of California Cities in the amount of $55,322. <br /> <br />2. Authorize payment to the Orange County Council of Governments via the <br />Orange County League of California Cities for Center for Demographic <br />Research data and related technical services in the amount of $8,379. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Orange County Division of the League of California Cities represents <br />the interests of cities in Orange County. The Division monitors local and <br />state legislative issues, educates councilmembers and staff on legislative <br />and policy matters of interest, and serves as the City Selection Committee <br />for local appointments on various boards and commissions. The membership <br />dues are determined on a per capita basis, and the dues for calendar year <br />2007 are $55,322. <br /> <br />Located within the California State University, Fullerton, the Center for <br />Demographic Research (COR) provides a wide range of demographic and <br />GIS/Mapping services. Each year it provides the housing needs calculations <br />for the 34 Orange County cities required by the Southern California <br />Association of Governments through the Orange County Council of <br />Governments (OCCOG). By an established Memorandum of Understanding, the <br />OC League of California Cities collects and remits payment to the OCCOG on <br />behalf of the 34 Orange County cities for specified services. <br /> <br />190-1 <br />
