REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />FEBRUARY 5, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF <br />SANTA ANA AND FOUNTAIN VALLEY <br />FOR EDINGER AVENUE <br />REHABILITATION FROM EUCLID TO <br />NEWHOPE <br />r, <br />~~ <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1~` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2ntl Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager <br />to execute an agreement between the cities of Fountain Valley and <br />Santa Ana to rehabilitate Edinger Avenue between Euclid and <br />Newhope. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Portions of Edinger Avenue from Euclid to Newhope are within the City <br />limits of Santa Ana to the north and City of Fountain Valley to the <br />south (Exhibit 1). The Edinger Avenue pavement is deteriorating due <br />to weather, age, and heavy usage. The project will provide <br />construction of new street pavement and replacement of damaged <br />concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and installation of wheelchair <br />ramps and bus pads. <br />The City of Santa Ana has received a Federal grant from The Arterial <br />Highways Rehabilitation Program to rehabilitate Edinger Avenue. In <br />order to enhance ride quality and visual appearance of the entire <br />street, Fountain Valley has agreed to rehabilitate their portion of <br />the street in conjunction with the City of Santa Ana project and <br />reimburse the City for approximately 29~ of the project cost. <br />BNVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />Environmental Review No. 2005-89 has been completed and a Categorical <br />Exemption has been filed for this Project. <br />25E-1 <br />
