The City has a population of 351,697 of which 61,683 are
youth between the ages of five and 17. Currently, regular and alternate
members of the Youth Commission are limited to high school aged students
between the ages of 14 and 18 and associate members are limited to
intermediate school students between the ages of 11 and 13.
To provide an opportunity for Youth Commission members to establish greater
consistency and to allow for a wider range of youth participation, it is
proposed that the membership requirements be expanded. It is proposed that
regular and alternate members be limited to individuals between the ages of
14 and 21, and associate members be limited to individuals between the ages
of 11 and 17. It is further proposed that a four-year term limit be
established for regular and alternate members.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associates with this item.
Gerardo Mouet
Executive Director
Parks, Recreation and Com.
