Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting the State of California, <br />Office of Emergency Services 2006 Anti-Gang Initiative Grant in the <br />amount of $52,430 into the revenue account (account no. 155-01-5370) <br />and appropriate same into the Office of Emergency Services 2006 Anti- <br />Gang Initiative Grant overtime expenditure account (account no. 155- <br />359-6141). <br />2. Adopt a resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to execute a grant <br />award agreement with the State of California, Office of Emergency <br />Services. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The State of California, Office of Emergency Services (OES) has awarded the <br />Santa Ana Police Department and the County of Orange, District Attorney's <br />Office the 2006 Anti-Gang Initiative Program Grant in the amount of <br />$104,859. The grant funding will support the activities of the Santa Nita <br />Gang Injunction efforts. As a participating member of this grant program, <br />the Santa Ana Police Department will receive $52,430 in grant funds. <br />Under the terms of the grant, the Police Department shall utilize the funds <br />for overtime related to the gang enforcement activities within the Safety <br />Zone. The goals, as specified in the grant, will be to reduce Part I UCR <br />crime, gang nuisance activity, and overall crime by 25o within the Safety <br />Zone. Staff recommends approval of the recommended actions as the grant <br />program positively impacts the community by directly aiding in the efforts <br />to reduce gang activities. <br />20B-1 <br />
