Reject the bids from Precision Ammunition, LLC as nonresponsive. <br />2. Award contracts for ammunition for a two-year period with provision for <br />three, one-year renewals in an annual amount not to exceed $98,350 with <br />the following vendors: <br />Vendor Location <br />Dooley Enterprises, Inc. Anaheim <br />Proforce Law Enforcement Brea <br />San Diego Police Equipment Co. San Diego <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Police Department provides ammunition to its sworn officers, <br />primarily for use during training and range qualification testing. <br />Officers are required to requalify regularly to maintain proficiency in the <br />use of firearms. The contracts for ammunition are designed to provide <br />quality products at a significant savings based on quantity pricing. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on January 17 and 19, 2007, and <br />bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is <br />as follows: <br />11 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />4 Bids received <br />Bids were received and opened January 29, 2007 (Exhibit 1). Vendors were <br />provided the opportunity to bid on 33 types of ammunition. None of the <br />respondents bid on all 33 items contained in the invitation. The bids <br />received from Dooley Enterprises, Inc., San Diego Police Equipment Co., and <br />Proforce Law Enforcement are the most responsive to the specifications and <br />meet the Police Department's requirements. <br />22D-1 <br />
