NO. 03-091) CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDED ACTION CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: APPROVED ^ As Recommended ^ As Amended ^ Ordinance on 15' Reading ^ Ordinance on Intl Reading ^ Implementing Resolution ^ Set Public Hearing For CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER Renew-the contract with Badger Meter, Inc., for positive displacement cold water meters for a one-year period in the annual amount not to exceed $70,000. DISCUSSION The Public Works Agency regularly performs installation, maintenance, and replacement of residential and commercial water meters. The meters are purchased through the Central Stores warehouse for distribution to the Public Works Agency as needed. Typically, a water meter is replaced every 15 years. The contract for water meters is designed to provide quality products at significant savings based on quantity pricing. On March 1, 2004, the City Council awarded contracts for cold water meters to Badger Meter, Inc., and HD Supply Waterworks, formerly Hughes Supply, Inc., for a two-year period with provision for three, one-year renewals. The vendors have performed satisfactorily during the past contract period. Badger Meter, Inc., has agreed to renew the contract without an increase in pricing. Staff recommends the second renewal of the contract with Badger Meter. Inc.
