REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />FEBRUARY 20, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING <br />PARTICIPATION IN THE STATE OF <br />CALIFORNIA CULTURAL AND <br />HISTORICAL ENDOWMENT GRANT <br />PROGRAM /7 /7 <br />~~, / / ~~i~'- <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />As Recommended <br />As Amended <br />Ordinance on 1~` Reading <br />Ordinance on Intl Reading <br />Implementing Resolution <br />Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant application in the <br />amount of $1,250,000 for the California Cultural and Historical Endowment <br />Grant Program for the Twist-Basler House Restoration Project. <br />The California Cultural and Historical Endowment was established under the <br />California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks, and Coastal <br />Protection Act of 2002 (Proposition 40). The program provides funds for <br />projects that tell the stories of California as a unified society and of <br />the many groups of people that together comprise historic and modern <br />California. Approximately $43 million is available to fund projects during <br />this final grant cycle. <br />The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Agency requests authorization <br />to submit a grant application in the amount of $1,250,000 for the <br />restoration of the Twist-Basler House. Grant funds will be used to complete <br />a historic restoration of the interior and exterior of the house and <br />provide interpretive elements.
