Lss:02/14/07 <br />RESOLUTION <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO APPROVE AN <br />AMENDMENT TO THE PROPOSED <br />EXPENDITURE PLAN FOR THE 2006-2007 <br />SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The California Legislature has established and annually funds the <br />Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF). <br />B. Said fund requires that moneys be allocated to counties and cities <br />in accordance with specified requirements for front line law <br />enforcement services. <br />C. The total funding allocation is based on annual estimated <br />population figures for respective counties and cities. In 2006-07 the <br />City of Santa Ana, received an award of $684,861. <br />D. The State requires cities and counties to adopt and submit an <br />expenditure plan to the Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight <br />Committee prior to funding. The City of Santa Ana adopted an <br />expenditure plan including front-line law enforcement for community <br />policing. <br />E. Upon receiving the allocated funds the Police Department has <br />established a revised SLESF expenditure account for the grant <br />funds, and is committed to spend the funds on front-line law <br />enforcement, including personnel and equipment for community <br />policing. In addition to personnel expenses for Gang Suppression <br />Task Force, Cruiser Enforcement and Career Criminal <br />Apprehension Programs, the expenditure account will include <br />equipment such as a deployment vehicle for the Strike Force team, <br />horse trailer for the Mounted Unit and digital media forensics <br />equipment for the Computer Forensics Unit. <br />F. A duly noticed public hearing was held to consider this item at the <br />Council's regular meeting of February 20, 2007. The City Council <br />75A-2 <br />
