The Santa Ana Police <br />Department and Holding Facility are equipped with back up power generators <br />in the event of a power outage. Additionally, the uninterruptible power <br />source (UPS) batteries are maintained to bridge from the main power to the <br />back up power generators to insure that the power supply is not <br />interrupted. <br /> <br />There are four areas equipped with the UPS batteries: the 9-1-1 dispatch <br />center, the j ail electronic security system, and the computer rooms for <br />both the police administration building and the holding facility. Although <br />still functional, the existing UPS batteries installed in 2001 have reached <br />their recommended lifespan.
