REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />APRIL 2, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT <br />ACCEPTING THE CLICK IT OR <br />TICKET PROGRAM GRANT <br />,i <br />~k. r ~~ <br />CI Y MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting the Click It or Ticket <br />Program Grant in the amount of $89,999 into the revenue account (account <br />no. 165-01-5360) and appropriate same into the Click It or Ticket Program <br />Grant overtime expenditure account (account no. 165-344-6141). <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Police Department has been awarded an $89,999 grant from the <br />UC Berkeley Traffic Safety Center (TSC) This year, TSC is administering <br />the Click It or Ticket Program funds for the California Office of Traffic <br />Safety. This grant funding will allow the Police Department's Traffic <br />Division to conduct a 21-day period seat belt enforcement operation in May <br />and June 2007 during the national "Click It or Ticket" mobilization <br />campaign. The goal of the California Click It or Ticket Program is to <br />increase seat belt use statewide to 93.7 percent by July 2007. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Approval of the appropriation adjustment will enhance the Click It or <br />Ticket-UC Berkeley revenue account (account no. 165-01-5360) by $89,999 and <br />increase the same into the Click It or Ticket-UC Berkeley overtime <br />expenditure account (account no. 165-344-6141). <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br />`( <br />Paul M.
