~.{~ Suns <br />Building identification and signage can be used as a creative <br />tool to enhance the look and design of a development <br />project. When signs are designed to complement the form <br />and function of the building and its users, it contributes to <br />the aesthetics of the project and aids in way finding. The <br />City desires to encourage creative sign proposals where the <br />standard provisions of Article XI do not well suit a particular <br />need, situation, or circumstance. In exchange, certain signs <br />that otherwise would be allowed by Article XI might not be <br />allowed. <br />b.l MASTER SIGN PROGRAM <br />Building identification and signage can be used as a creative <br />tool to enhance the look and design of a development <br />project. When signs are designed to complement the form <br />and function of the building and its users it contributes to <br />the aesthetics of the project and aids in way finding. The <br />provisions of this section encourage creative sign proposals <br />where the standard provisions of the sign code may not well <br />suit a particular need, situation, or circumstance. In exchange, <br />certain signs that otherwise would be allowed might not be <br />allowed in the MEMU Overlay Zone. <br />Prior to issuance of any sign permits or certificates of <br />occupancy for any building or portion thereof, a master sign <br />program for the entire site, including directional signs and <br />graphics for any parking structure, shall be submitted to the <br />Planning Commission as part of the MEMU Site Plan Review <br />application. The purpose of the Master Sign Program is as <br />follows: <br />a. The primary purpose of a master sign program <br />is to provide a mechanism by which the sign <br />regulations established in the SAMC can be modified <br />to ensure that signs for a uniquely planned or <br />designed development are most appropriate for that <br />development or area. <br />b <br />c. <br />A master sign program may include sign regulations <br />that are, at the same time, both more restrictive in <br />some respects and less restrictive in other respects <br />than the regulations established in the SAMC. Less <br />restrictive provisions in a master sign program may <br />also include signs that are otherwise prohibited by the <br />SAMC. <br />Each master sign <br />program applicant <br />shall show to <br />the Planning <br />Commission's <br />satisfaction why <br />the modifications <br />requested are Secondary access sign <br />warranted and how <br />the total sign proposal for the development meets the <br />general purpose and intent of the SAMC. <br />11 A-45 <br />Main access signage <br />
