342 <br />WS.A. <br />WORK STUDY SESSION <br />BUS SHELTER AND BENCH SERVICES <br />Ms. Teri Cable, Administrative Services Manager, Public Works Agency, <br />and Will Hayes, Public Works Agency, gave an overview of the Bus <br />Shelter and Bus Bench program, and detailed the provisions of a <br />proposed agreement with Eller Media Company to provide bus stop <br />shelters and non -advertising bus benches throughout the City for a ten <br />year period. Mr. Hayes gave an overview of the purpose of the bus <br />shelter program and outlined the benefits of an exclusive agreement <br />including the following: <br />City determines the bus shelter and bus bench locations <br />• City determines restrictions on certain types of advertisements <br />Improved appearance of the right-of-way by prohibiting advertising <br />on bus benches and providing new shelters and benches <br />• City has choice of shelter and bench design <br />Free advertising space provided for public service announcements <br />• City has tighter control and oversight of maintenance <br />Mr. Hayes also noted that installation of the shelters and benches would <br />begin sixty days from design and color approval by the City; installation <br />would be completed in approximately six months. The term of the <br />proposed agreement is ten years and the shelters and benches are to be <br />refinished under the terms in the agreement in years seven and eight. <br />At the end of the agreement, the shelters and benches become City <br />property, and the City will receive a ten-year compensation in the amount <br />of $5, 265, 600. <br />Mayor Pulido left at 7:40 p.m. <br />25.F.
