398 <br />COMMENTS <br />Noted that on tonight's agenda, the Council approved a two year <br />agreement for transportation service at the senior centers, and asked <br />staff to explain how residents could access this service <br />Councilmember Solorio <br />• Thanked the residents and business and community leaders who <br />voted for him in the November election <br />• Announced that there would be a pictorial exhibit entitled "Fire in the <br />Morning" displayed in the Old Court House from October 30, 2000 <br />through Spring 2001 <br />• Noted that an agreement had been reached by the Orange County <br />Board of Supervisors and Newport Beach relative to the night curfew <br />at John Wayne Airport and that the City of Santa Ana was pursuing an <br />extension of this curfew past 2005 <br />Councilmember Bist <br />• Welcomed the two new members of the City Council <br />• Congratulated Wilshire Square on its successful December 2, 2000 <br />Concert <br />• Announced that she had attended the graduation ceremony for young <br />computer geniuses from Willard Elementary School; she noted that the <br />five students who graduated each received new computers <br />Councilmember Christy <br />• Welcomed the new members of the City Council <br />• Related the events of the "Children of the Dream" week, including the <br />successful reception at the Bowers Museum; thanked Dr. Peter Keller <br />for the use of the Bowers Museum <br />• Noted that she had attended a performance by kids at risk at the Nixon <br />Library <br />• Asked the City Manager to develop an oral history program to <br />preserve the experiences of many City pioneers and to maintain a <br />video or audio historical record in the City's history archives <br />• Wished everyone a happy holiday season and announced that earlier <br />in the evening there was a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Sasser <br />Park <br />Councilmember Alvarez <br />• Thanked the community for supporting her in the November election, <br />and thanked her Mother, other family members and supporters <br />• Thanked the City Council and staff for helping her in her new duties <br />• Congratulated Pat McGuigan on her election as Mayor Pro Tem <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 387 DECEMBER 4, 2000 <br />
