COMMENTS <br />1 90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Alex Vega commented that Santa Ana was a safe and clean City due to <br />the efforts of the City Council and the Police department. <br />Florence Leach raised concerns about the proposed routes of the <br />Centerline Project. <br />90.13. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Alvarez <br />• Thanked the Community Development Block Grant applicants for <br />participating in the process and thanked the City staff and Human <br />Relations Commission members for their work in the difficult task <br />of selecting the organizations to fund <br />• Thanked the Santa Ana Police Department members who took <br />her on an informative "ride -along", and thanked Fire Chief Marc <br />Martin for the fire station tours <br />Councilmember Christy <br />• Asked Rip Ribble, Operations Manager, Parks, Recreation, and <br />I Community Services Agency, to give an update on the Youth <br />Expo to be held at Eddie West Stadium on March 18, 2001. Mr. <br />Ripple noted that the City had just received a $5,000 donation <br />from Chevron for the Youth Expo, and he gave an update on <br />many of the activities planned for the event, including a "battle of <br />the bands", a student fashion show, career counseling, and <br />skateboard and Hot Rod exhibitions. <br />• Asked that the Council adjourn in the memory of Arthur Raymond <br />Peralta, a Water Meter Repairer in the Public Works Agency <br />Mayor Pro Tern McGuigan <br />• Asked Cleve Williams, Executive Director of the Parks, <br />Recreation, and Community Services Agency to give a report on <br />the status of the proposed skateboard park that the Council had <br />approved in November. Mr. Williams announced that a meeting <br />would be held on March 9, 2001 and that the process for public <br />input was being developed. He also noted that students from <br />Spurgeon Middle School would participate in the design of the <br />park which should be completed within the next year <br />• Asked the cable television technicians to correct the Council <br />Agenda page shown on Channel 3 to reflect the names of the <br />new Councilmembers elected in November, 2000. <br />• Asked that the Council adjourn in the memory of Thich Thien Chi <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 90 MARCH 5, 2001 <br />
