<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />MAY 7, 2007 <br /> <br />TITLE <br /> <br />BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS ATTENDANCE <br />REPORTS - APRIL 2006 THROUGH <br />SEPTEMBER, 2006 AND OCTOBER, 2006 <br />THROUGH MARCH, 2007 <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 15t Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing <br />For_~ <br /> <br />u~~ <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Receive and File Boards and Commissions Biannual Attendance Reports for the <br />periods of April, 2006 - September, 2006, and, October, 2006 - March, 2007. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Boards and Commissions Attendance Report is prepared biannually to keep <br />the Council informed relative to member attendance at Board or Commission <br />meetings. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Council policy, the City Council may remove board or commission <br />members who incur four unexcused absences within a six-month reporting <br />period. Additionally, City Charter Section 901, which was amended by the <br />voters in November, 2006, provides that two consecutive unexcused absences <br />would result in the vacation of a board or commission position. <br /> <br />Examination of the attendance reports for the period April, 2006 - September, <br />2006 revealed that one member of the Workforce Investment Board and two <br />members of the Youth Commission exceeded the number of allowable unexcused <br />absences. All three of these members have subsequently resigned or were not <br />reappointed to their respective positions. <br /> <br />Examination of the attendance report for October, 2006 - March, 2007 revealed <br />that no current members have exceeded the limits for permitted absences. The <br />only action required by the Council is to receive and file this report. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br /> <br /> <br />Patricia E.
