<br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />. Announced that the 6th Annual Heroes Celebration and street fair <br />would be held this Saturday <br />. Noted that he would keep the victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy in his <br />thoughts and prayers <br /> <br />Mavor Pro T em Alvarez <br />. Announced that the 6th annual Mother's Day event at the Santa Ana <br />Stadium would be held on May 1 ih and tickets for this music festival <br />cost $10 per ticket <br />. Noted that the statistics quoted in the Orange County Register relative <br />to gang activity in the City were misleading and the police department <br />representative was misquoted; the actual statistics are not as high as <br />reported <br />. Asked the Council to adjourn in memory of former Orange County <br />District Attorney Cecil Hicks <br /> <br />Councilmember Bustamante <br />. Emphasized the importance of parents staying involved in their <br />children's activities and encouraged parents to contact the Parks and <br />Recreation Agency to obtain a list of planned activities <br />. Thanked the Mothers of Floral Park for volunteering time for the annual <br />Easter Egg Hunt <br />. Asked staff to work with the school district to distribute flyers about <br />preventing graffiti <br /> <br />Council member Martinez <br />. Congratulated all the agencies that were providing funding through the <br />Community Development Block Grant funds and noted that these <br />agencies must join the collaborative effort to provide needed services <br />to the residents of the city <br />. Stressed the need to develop a pro active approach to stop gang <br />violence in the City <br /> <br />Council member Sarmiento <br />. Announced that Bubblefest at the Discovery Science Center is <br />currently underway <br />. Announced that the Santa Ana Zoo received its accreditation from the <br />Association of Zoos and Aquariums for the next five years <br />. Noted that there is a need to provide quality affordable housing to keep <br />the workforce in the City <br />.
