Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $250,000 in Federal <br />Empowerment Zone funds allocated to the Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center <br />for a Federal Empowerment Zone Youth Workforce Development Program. <br /> <br />2. Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager <br />and the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with the Santa <br />Ana Empowerment Corporation in the amount not to exceed $250,000 <br />for the 2006-07 Federal Empowerment Zone Youth Workforce <br />Development Program. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />On April 25, 2007, the Santa Ana Empowerment Corporation allocated <br />$250,000 to the City of Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center to provide a Youth <br />Workforce Development Program for 100 Federal Empowerment Zone youth <br />residents between the ages of 14-21. Participants in the program will <br />receive a work experience opportunity that will allow them to learn basic <br />work skills, work habits, and receive exposure to the relevance of <br />education for successful employment. The program will also provide <br />income to at-risk economically disadvantaged youth. <br /> <br />20B-1 <br />
