<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />MAY 21, 2007 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br />HISTORIC PROPERTY PRESERVATION <br />AGREEMENT NO. 2007-01 FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1923 NORTH <br />GREENLEAF STREET <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />q'c uJtw~~~~i2 <br />CI MANA R <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Sara Chesters, <br />property owner, for the structure located at 1923 North Greenleaf Street. <br /> <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION ACTION <br /> <br />Recommended that the City Council direct the City Attorney to prepare and <br />authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute an <br />agreement with Sara Chesters, property owner, for the structure located <br />at 1923 North Greenleaf Street at its May 3, 2007 meeting by a vote of <br />7:0 (Bustamante and Rogers absent). <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />After the public hearing on May 3, 2007, the Historic Resources <br />Commission reviewed the proposed Historic Property Preservation Agreement <br />(Mills Act Contract) and concluded that the resulting potential property <br />tax savings would encourage the owner to reinvest the tax savings in the <br />maintenance of their historic property, and would benefit both the owner <br />and the community (Exhibit A). Additionally, the agreement prevents <br />inappropriate alterations. <br /> <br />25A-1 <br />
