WITH ALL MEMBERS PRESENT <br /> <br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />90.A. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Debbie McEwen, and Paul Giles addressed Council with concerns relative <br />to fireworks sales in the City and requested that such sales be limited to <br />one day on July 4th each year. <br /> <br />Florence Leach addressed Council with concerns relative to a proposed <br />increase in sewer connection fees. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Alvarez <br />· Noted that the City of Tustin has threatened a lawsuit relative to a <br /> recent state measure authorizing 100 acres of land at the Tustin Air <br /> base for schools; she encouraged residents to notify City of Tustin <br /> officials and urge them to resume negotiations <br /> <br />Councilmember Christy <br />· Attended the Mexican American Opportunities Foundation (MAOF) <br /> annual Fiesta Familiar at Prentice Park on August 4, 2001, and noted <br /> that the event was very successful <br />· Remarked that some businesses were not complying with the <br /> commercial sign ordinance and noted that City staff is actively <br /> enforcing this ordinance <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem McGuigan <br />· Congratulated the organizers of the Wilshire Square Summer Concert <br /> held on July 28, 2001 <br />· Noted that she has received calls from residents of the Sierra Mobile <br /> Home Park expressing concerns relative to a car wash on Newhope <br /> and Seventeenth Street which is not abiding by hours of operation; she <br /> requested that staff investigate this matter <br />· Asked staff from the Public Works and Police Departments to <br /> investigate the traffic accident history on Flower Street between <br /> MacArthur and Warner <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 298 AUGUST $, 2001 <br /> <br /> <br />
