90.A. <br /> <br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Tim Rush, Joann Ramirez, Alison Young, Paul Giles, Louise Pass, Ginelle <br />Hardy, Nathan Reed, Debbie McEwen, Barry Jensen, Jeff Dickman, and <br />Philip Chinn spoke in opposition to the demolition of the historic Yale <br />apartments building at 1007-1009 North Broadway <br /> <br />At the request of Councilmembers Franklin and AIvarez, City Attorney Joe <br />Fletcher explained the actions taken by his office in this matter. <br />Councilmember Franklin left the meeting <br /> <br />Speaking as a member of the public, Brett Franklin requested that the <br />owner of the building be asked not to tear down the apartments, and that <br />staff investigate possible loopholes in the historic preservation process. <br />He further requested that the Council consider holding a work study <br />session to'discuss this matter. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Alvarez <br />· Noted that the City has no tolerance for slum lords <br />· Wished everyone Happy Holidays <br /> <br />Couhcilmember Christy <br />· Thanked the individuals who brought the issue of the Yale apartments <br /> to the Council's attention <br />· Congratulated Clerk of the Council Pat Healy on the birth of her first <br /> grandchild - a six pound boy <br />· Wished everyone Happy Holidays <br /> <br />Councilmember Bist <br />· Noted that she was aware of the issues raised by the Historical <br /> Preservation Society, and that the City must examine its procedures <br /> and ensure that any loopholes found are closed <br />· Asked staff to provide an update on her request for a sidewalk <br /> i~lentification marker at the corner of Sunflower and Plaza Drive <br />· Asked residents during the holiday season to remember to give toys to <br /> Toys for Tots or Southwest Community Center or Minnie Street <br /> <br />Councilmember Solorio <br />· Wished everyone Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 449 DECEMBER 3, 2001 <br /> <br /> <br />
