REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />MAY 21, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />38COND AMBNDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH <br />MBTCALF & EDDY FOR ENGINEERING <br />38RVICES <br />CITY MANAGER <br />~~RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1B1 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2n0 Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute a second amendment to the agreement <br />with Metcalf & Eddy in the amount of $25,800 for a new contract amount <br />not to exceed $205,313 for design of the West Pump Station Facilities <br />Upgrade Project. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On April 4, 2005, City Council awarded a contract to Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. <br />in the amount of $167, 513 for design of the West Pump Station Facility <br />Upgrades (Exhibit 1). The improvements will include a new pump building, <br />new booster pumps, motors and appurtenances as well as all new electrical <br />panels and equipment. <br />This project is partially funded with a Federal Grant from the <br />Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA requested a cultural <br />resources assessment of the site prior to giving final approval. On June <br />5, 2006, City Council approved an amendment to the contract with Metcalf <br />and Eddy in the amount of $12,000 to provide the study. <br />The project design is now near completion and there are a number of items <br />outside the original scope of work that need to be included in the final <br />design. These items include: <br />• Landscape and irrigation to improve site <br />• Electrical and instrumentation revisions <br />and dosing system <br />• Additional programming and schematic <br />operations <br />aesthetics <br />to the on-site chlorination <br />drawings for Well Pump <br />25H-1 <br />
