COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem McGuiqan: <br />· Recommended that Mr. Ribble ask the Cable Television Advisory <br /> Board to consider providing a public forum for input on the upcoming <br /> contract negotiations for cable franchise services <br />· Asked the Council to adjourn in memory of Marty Lockney who was <br /> very active in the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce and managed a <br /> car dealership in Santa Ana <br /> <br />Councilmember Bist: <br />· Announced that on Saturday, January 5, 2002, the monthly event held <br /> in the Artists Village was very well attended with visitors enjoying the <br /> shows and art exhibits and patronizing local restaurants <br />· Noted that the streetscape in the Second Street mall is in need of <br /> maintenance <br /> <br />Councilmember Solorio: <br />· Thanked Mr. Grabiel for the invitation to the open house at the Yale <br /> Apartments <br />· Thanked the Mayor and Council Services Manager Jill Arthur for their <br /> efforts on behalf of the City in Sacramento relative to budget issues <br />· Emphasized the importance of the John Wayne Airport issues and <br /> noted that the City Council has committed to working with cities along <br /> the airport corridor in ensuring that the curfew currently enforced at the <br /> John Wayne Airport remains in force after the expiration date of 2005 <br />· Announced that 2002 would be the "year of the parks" and that-the City <br /> has invested heavily in developing new parks or maintaining and <br /> enhancing existing parks <br />· Wished everyone a happy new year <br /> <br />Councilmember Franklin: <br />· Noted that there was a very favorable editorial in the Los Angeles <br /> Times relative to the arts movement in Santa Ana <br />· Noted that there seemed to be an increase in graffiti; he asked staff to <br /> review statistics on arrests in this area <br />· Complimented Gary Coombs for his efforts in coordinating the Mayor's <br /> Cup Basketball Tournament <br /> <br />ADJOURNED - 9:27 P.M. <br /> <br />To Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. at Delhi Center, 505 East Central Avenue, <br />Santa Ana, California <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 18 JANUARY 7, 2002 <br /> <br /> <br />
