COMMENTS <br /> <br />Susan Andre Rice, raised concerns relative to the lack of adequate <br />parking at the South Coast Villas <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Alvarez <br />· Asked the Deputy City Manager for Development Services to give an <br /> update on the location of the Court of Appeals in Santa Ana. Ms. <br /> Nelson replied that there was to be a meeting with the state <br /> representatives on April 2, 2002, and that current plans called for the <br /> State taking title to the City's property in the Fall of 2002. The <br /> Councilmember asked residents to contact their elected officials in <br /> support of this project <br />· Noted that there was an event scheduled on April 22, 2002 at the <br /> Plaza of the Flags from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for victims of crimes and their <br /> families <br />· Noted that April 20, 2002 is Earth Day and residents are encouraged to <br /> sponsor functions to clean City parks <br />· Announced that "Despierta America" was taping a show in Santa Ana <br /> in celebration of its 5th anniversary <br />· Invited all residents to attend the Mariachi Festival, planned as a <br /> celebration of Mother's Day in Santa Ana on May 11, 2002 <br />· Asked the Council to adjourn the meeting in memory of Julio Sergio <br /> O'Cadiz Moctezuma, who was the artist who did the mural around City <br /> Hall <br /> <br />Councilmember Christy <br />· Noted that she visited Washington, D. C with representatives from the <br /> National League of Cities, and that the cities presented six priorities: <br /> protecting homeland, sustaining federal support for critical municipal <br /> programs, protecting local revenues and tax authorities, ensuring racial <br /> justice and equality, investing in children, and balancing international <br /> trade agreements with local authorities <br />· Noted that currently Santa Ana College has the only working <br /> planetarium in Southern California, and will receive federal funding in <br /> April, 2002 <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern McGuiaan <br />· Congratulated Max Madrid for his designation in Washington D.C. as <br /> Daily Point of Life # 2122 and commended him for his activities in the <br /> Santa Ana community <br />· Asked the Council to adjourn in memory of Florence Nalle, mother of <br /> City Planning Commissioner Sandy Nalle <br /> <br />COUNCIL MINUTES 121 APRIL '1, 2002 <br /> <br /> <br />
