REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />AUGUST 6, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1~' Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2ntl Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with PBS&J to provide <br />engineering services for the widening of the on-ramps at SR-55 at <br />MacArthur Blvd. in the amount not to exceed $346,000 including a 15g <br />contingency. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Environmental Impact Report for the MacArthur South project <br />identified widening of the on-ramps to the SR-55/MacArthur Blvd. <br />interchange as part of the mitigation measures for the proposed <br />development. The widening includes adding one lane to the on-ramps at the <br />north and south bound lanes (Exhibit 1). In addition ramp meters will be <br />installed as part of the proposed improvements. <br />In February 2007, the Public Works Agency issued Request for Proposals <br />(RFP) to several consulting firms to obtain services for the proposed <br />improvements. Four proposals were received in response to the RFP and <br />evaluated by the Project Team consisting of City and Caltrans staff. <br />Each firm was rated according to its qualifications, past experience and <br />capacity to perform the required work. Based on the proposals submitted, <br />the ratings for the firms are as follows: <br /> FIRM RATING FEES <br />1. TRC 85 $773,443 <br />2. PBS&J 80 300,959 <br />3. Willdan 74 623,900 <br />4.
