REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />AUGUST 20, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT <br />ACCEPTING SANTA ANA'S FOCUSED <br />ENFORCEMENT TEAM GRANT FUNDING <br />MODIFICATION- <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1~` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />1. Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing additional funding from <br />the Office of Emergency Services in the amount of $47, 851 for the FY <br />2007 Santa Ana's Focused Enforcement Team Grant and transferring the <br />additional required matching funds of $15,950 to appropriate a total <br />amount of $63,801 into the FY 2007 Santa Ana's Focused Enforcement Team <br />Grant fund. <br />2. Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to amend the agreement with Community Services <br />Program Inc., Family Violence Victim Services, to continue operating <br />the domestic violence victim advocacy program for an additional six <br />month term in an amount not to exceed $33,683. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On April 2, 2007, Council accepted the California Office of Emergency <br />Services (OES) grant funds in the amount of $95,701 for the FY 2007 Santa <br />Ana's Focused Enforcement Team (SAFE-Team) project. The project grant <br />period end date has been extended and additional funding in the amount of <br />$47,851 has been awarded to the Police Department, increasing the total <br />aggregate award to $143,552. The grant requires a 25 percent match of the <br />project total. <br />The grant period extension and the additional funds will enable the <br />continuation of the assignment of an additional domestic violence <br />investigator and a full-time victim advocate to handle cases of domestic <br />violence, sexual assault, and stalking for six additional months. The <br />Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) system, domestic <br />violence training for law enforcement personnel, and police apprehension <br />and suppression efforts for domestic violence offenders will also be <br />continued. <br />20A-1 <br />
