REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />AUGUST 20, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />LEASE AGREELdENT WITH ROYAL STREET <br />COMMUNICATIONS FOR CELLULAR <br />ANTENNA AT ADAMS PARK <br />(~ ~ ~ ~~ r <br />4 <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1s~ Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2ntl Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />1) Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute a lease agreement with Royal Street <br />Communications (Metro PCS) to collocate on the Sprint monopine cell <br />tower at Adams Park, in an amount not to exceed $12,000 per year. <br />2) Receive and file Categorical Exemption for Environmental Review No <br />2006-149 for Adams Park. <br />BOARD OF RECREATION AND PARK RECOMMENDATION <br />Recommended to the City Council to approve a lease agreement with Royal <br />Street Communications for a cellular equipment facility at Adams Park for <br />a lease amount of $12,000 per year, with revenue deposited in a special <br />account for improvements at Adams Park, by a vote of 5:0:3 at its July <br />25, 2007 meeting. <br />On July 6, 2004 the City Council approved a lease agreement with Sprint <br />PCS Assets, L.L.C. to install a 65-£oot high cellular monopine antenna, <br />equipment facility, picnic shelter and three pine trees at Adams Park. <br />The monopine cellular tower was constructed to receive a second carrier <br />on the tower. The revenue from the Sprint lease is deposited in a special <br />account for improvements at Adams Park. <br />Metro PCS has agreed to collocate on the existing Sprint cellular tower. <br />The lease agreement with Metro PCS is for 300 square feet of lease area <br />to build a 17'-4" X 17'-4" equipment building east of the existing cell <br />tower. In addition, Metro PCS will build a picnic shelter to match the <br />existing picnic structure, a concrete walkway adjacent to the existing <br />play equipment, and install one 36" box canary island pine tree. <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />25H-1 <br />
