We give youths a safe place
to go after school, where our bilingual staff tutor and mentor them, teach them new skills, help them build dreams for
the future, and support them in achieving their potential.
Youths will participate in program activities that take place after school, Tuesday through Friday, from 3-6 PM at
our center, and on Saturady from 9-5:30 PM. Our program is open year round to all youths ages 5-19 living in Santa
Ana, more specifically the Minnie Street area. Youth activities are oragnized into three well -integrated institutes:
Academic, Leadership, and Career.
Within the academic Institute, we provide tutoring, help with daily homework assignments, and accelerated
learning as appropriate. We teach important skills that enable our youths to prioritize, manage their time, study more
effeciently, and become more independent in their ability to learn. We have a computer lab for school projects, book
reports, and researching colleges.
Within the Leadership Institute, we provide life skills classes that address communication skills, conflict resolution,
and character issues such as responsibility. Youths are given opportunity to participate in community services and
cultural activities.
Within the Career Institute, we provide presentations by guest speakers about various careers and conduct
workshops about applying for college and scholarships. We take youths to tour local college and university campuses
and we help prepare for college entrance exams.
In our Parent Strategy, we provide parents with monthly parent meeting to help them develop the skills to better
provide for, supervise, nurture, and communicate with their children.
