Description of Work - In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract period. <br />What specific activities will be undertaken during the contract period. Please be concise in your response. Only the <br />viewable space will print. <br /> <br />School uniforms, including shoes and underclothing, are furnished through OPERATION SCHOOL BELL@, the <br />nationwide acclaimed philanthropy of National Assistance League. Part of its significant financial support to many of <br />ALSA's philanthropic programs, the Modjeska Auxiliary provides backpacks filled with school supplies. Good <br />grooming kits are supplied by Assisteens. <br /> <br />More than 1300 students are supplied with two uniform outfits, shoes and backpacks each year, building pride, self- <br />esteem, and reducing the problem of school absences due to inadequate clothing. For many children, this is the first <br />time they've had new clothing to call their own. <br /> <br />Students are referred to OSB through school nurses, outreach consultants, and community Iiasions. Aprroximately 30 <br />students are scheduled per work day, which is staffed by ALSA volunteers. Since SAUSD has gone back to the <br />traditional school calendar (Sept-June), OSB schedules most students from Sept-March. <br /> <br />Schedule of Performace <br />Estimate the number of ONLY unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served by the funded program during the 12- <br />month contract period per quarter. (Enter number of new Santa Ana clients served each quarter.
