CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON <br />PARK, RECREATION, EDUCATION AND YOUTH <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />June 6, 2007 <br />MINUTES <br />CALLED TO ORDER <br />The meeting convened at 5:40 p.m. in the City Hall, Room 831, 20 Civic Center Plaza, <br />Santa Ana, California. <br />ATTENDANCE <br />Council members present: Michelle Martinez (Chairperson), Vince Sarmiento <br />Absent: Sal Tinajero <br />Staff present: Gerardo Mouet, Exec. Director PRCSA; Ben Kaufman, City Attorney; Ron <br />Ono, Admin. Services Manager; Jenny Rios, Recreation Superintendent; Alma Flores, <br />Sr. Management Asst. <br />Public present: Glen Stroud; Julie Stroud; Lizann Martinez <br />1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />• Minutes of March 23, 2007 and April 20, 2007 approved as presented. <br />2. YOUTH MASTER PLAN <br />• A draft resolution to develop a Youth Master Plan for the City of Santa Ana <br />was presented by staff. The resolution is scheduled for City Council approval <br />on July 2007. The master plan will be implemented in phases. Phase I will <br />focus on organized sports activity as a means to address obesity, gang <br />activity, crime, juvenile delinquency prevention. Staff will work through the <br />Youth Commission and the community with input from EPIC, Human <br />Relations Commission and the Planning Commission to develop the master <br />plan. <br />Phase II will include an audit of the athletic fields available in the City.
