Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing additional funds from <br />the State of California, Office of Emergency Services for the 2006 <br />Anti-Gang Initiative Grant in the amount of $66,456 into the revenue <br />account no. 155-01-5370 and appropriate same into the Office of <br />Emergency Services 2006 Anti-Gang Initiative Grant expenditure account <br />no. 155-359-various. <br />2. Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with the County of <br />Orange, Office of the District Attorney in an amount not to exceed <br />$50,519. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On February 5, 2007, City Council accepted the 2006 Anti-Gang Initiative <br />Program Grant from the State of California, Office of Emergency Services <br />(OES) in the amount of $52,430. OES has awarded the Department with <br />additional funds, for a total grant award of $118,886 to implement this <br />program. <br />The Police Department will utilize the additional funds for overtime <br />related to the enforcement of the Santa Nita Gang Injunction in the Safety <br />Zone. The goals, as specified in the grant, will be to reduce Part I <br />Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) crime, gang nuisance activity, and overall <br />crime by 25% within the Safety Zone. As the lead applicant of this grant <br />program, an agreement with the County of Orange, Office of the District <br />Attorney is necessary to transfer funds in the amount of $50,519 for their <br />costs related to work involved in locating and serving other members of the <br />gang and prosecuting those in violation of the injunction. <br />20A-1 <br />
