Hosts Learning Systerm is a structured mentoring <br />intervention system for K-12 students who need individualized assistance in reading and writing. <br />Hosts Learning sytem is specifically desigend to help support academic intervention (Language and <br />Literacy Development) for limited English proficiency learners, as well as special needs students. <br />Hosts Learning system encompasses the five primary research-based components of literacy: <br />phonemic awareness, phonics instruction, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. <br /> <br />Literacy Assessment (pre and post tests) of grant participants will be conducted through our Hosts <br />Learner Link Sytsem and STAR Assessment. These assessment tools are based on extensive <br />research into the theories and practices of successful reading instruction. The startegies embedded <br />in the Host program (alignment, diagnostic assessment, prescriptive lesson planning, and <br />instruction) are supported in scientifically-based reading research adn studies conducted over many <br />years. Students are evaluated with 2 assessments in particular: 1) Learner Link (online) assessment <br />and 2) STAR assessment (paper and pencil assessment). A Literacy pre-test will be conducted with <br />each participant prior to intervention and a post-test will be conducted with each participant during <br />the end of the intervention.
