NO. 07-076) <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Lake Chevrolet for the purchase of 17 compact pickup <br />trucks in the amount not to exceed $346,787. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Finance and Management Services Agency (FMSA) Fleet Division's <br />Equipment Replacement Program is in the City's annual budget, and <br />identifies vehicles scheduled for replacement as well as identifies <br />additions to the City fleet. For Fiscal Year 2007-2008, 14 trucks have <br />been identified for replacement and three trucks have been approved as <br />additions. Funding is monitored through a depreciation schedule <br />established with each department. Additionally, vehicle acquisitions are <br />reviewed in accordance with the City's Hybrid and Alternative Fuel Vehicle <br />Acquisition Policy. Currently, hybrid vehicles are not available in the <br />pickup category. <br />Compact pickup trucks are used by many agencies, including Fire Inspectors, <br />Treasury and Customer Service meter readers, and park maintenance crews. <br />Police Department Non-patrol Division also uses pickup trucks in the sub- <br />stations and Crime Prevention Division. The Public Works Agency is <br />replacing five pickup trucks currently in use in the Construction, Design <br />Engineering, Transportation, and Project Management divisions. The three <br />new pickup trucks are for use in Water Utility, Water Administration and <br />Engineering, and Street Trees divisions. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on August 24, 2007, and bids were <br />solicited.
