REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />OCTOBER 1, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />HISTORIC PROPERTY PRESERVATION <br />AGREEMENT NO. 2007-05 FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2415 NORTH <br />POINSETTIA STREET <br />(~ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Mark Rothenberg and <br />Lauren Tarkow for the structure located at 2415 North Riverside Drive. <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION ACTION <br />Recommended that the City Council direct the City Attorney to prepare and <br />authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute an <br />agreement with Mark Rothenberg and Lauren Tarkow for the structure <br />located at 2415 North Riverside Drive at its September 6, 2007 meeting by <br />a vote of 6:0 (Dickman, Mill, Schaefer absent). <br />DISCUSSION <br />After the public hearing on September 6, 2007, the Historic Resources <br />Commission reviewed the proposed Historic Property Preservation Agreement <br />(Mills Act Contract) and concluded that the resulting potential property <br />tax savings would encourage the owner to reinvest the tax savings in the <br />maintenance of their historic property, and would benefit both the owner <br />and the community (Exhibit A). Additionally, the agreement prevents <br />inappropriate alterations. <br />25B-1 <br />
