REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />OCTOBER O1, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT AMENDMENT <br />LIBRARY AUTOMATION <br />SERVICE AND SUPPORT <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />FOR ^ As Amended <br />SYSTEM ^ Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />r~~ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the Agreement with <br />The Library Corporation, Inc. to provide one year of database <br />subscription service and maintenance, for a total amount not to exceed <br />$27,500. <br />DlscvssloN <br />On June 16, 2003, the City Council approved an agreement between the City <br />of Santa Ana and The Library Corporation, Inc. to provide a library <br />automation system. The Library Corporation, Inc. has provided the <br />Library with a web based client server. The system offers integrated <br />library automation, which provides increased functionality for staff and <br />ease of use for patrons. <br />The database subscription service and maintenance will continue to <br />provide uninterrupted service to the Library and its patrons. This <br />service includes telephone support, licensed software updates and <br />enhancements, staff training, online access to cataloging resources, and <br />enhanced content databases.
